My Priorities for BHUSD
Transparency & Accountability
For too long, our board has concentrated power, governed from closed session, and tuned out the very families it serves, leaving the district mired in costly litigation and eroded trust. I'll insist on full Brown Act compliance, open decision-making, and real oversight, and I'll treat parents and teachers as partners. A board that follows its own rules and answers to the community is the foundation for everything else.
Academic Excellence
BHUSD was once among the very best in California, but our academic rankings have slipped over the years, and our students deserve better. I'll focus relentlessly on outcomes, starting with a Read by Third Grade guarantee and permanent, district-wide high-impact tutoring, so every student is challenged, supported, and prepared to compete with the best.
Fiscal Responsibility & Ending the Deficit
Under the current board, BHUSD has spent more than it takes in year after year, running an operating deficit of roughly $4.6 million in 2024-25 alone and drawing down the reserves that protect our schools. Too much of that spending goes to administrative overhead and avoidable legal costs rather than the classroom. As a small-business owner who has balanced a budget and met a payroll for more than fifteen years, I'll bring real financial discipline to BHUSD: honest, transparent budgeting, independent oversight of every dollar, and a clear plan to close the deficit so our resources go where they belong, to students and teachers.
Strong Schools, Strong Community
Great schools are the heart of Beverly Hills. They shape our children's futures, and they protect the value and character of our entire community. I'll work to keep our schools excellent, safe, and welcoming, because strong schools benefit everyone, parents and non-parents alike, and are one of the best investments we can make in our neighborhoods and our property values.
Safe, Healthy Campuses
Our kids can't learn if they don't feel safe and healthy at school, and nearby development, including the hotel project by El Rodeo, raises real air-quality concerns. I'll push for independent, developer-paid air quality monitoring at El Rodeo and for strong, clearly written, and consistently enforced campus safety policies at every school.
